Have you ever felt like life just has not been what you always expected? I know I have. I wrote this song as a reminder that life is not a fairytale. We need to just take it one step at a time.

Comparing my life
To the pages of a storybook
I wonder why
Things are never what they seem
Why can’t I live
In that land far, far away,
In a castle with Prince Charming,
In a fairytale where all my dreams
Come true?

Chorus:
I always thought my life was one big storybook
Each step that I took, a new tale being told
As I look back now, it all seems so foolish
I watch as my dreams, once bright, fade and grow cold.

If only these tattered shoes
Were enchanted glass slippers
This Cinderella’d dance the night away
She’d ride off into the sunset
Never looking back
To the harsh realities of life
And the skies endlessly gray
And never blue.

Is happily ever after
Impossible to find?
Will this elusive fairytale
Forever plague my mind?
