Verge of Tomorrow

I stare at the clock as the minutes tick by
I realize time’s running away
The joys of my youth fade with the day
As tomorrow takes me by surprise

Inevitable changes will stare from my mirror
The moment I turn to look back
I can’t seem to rid my mind of this fear
I’m falling behind
This darkness. It’s so black.

Standing here on the verge of tomorrow
Desperately waiting for God to freeze time
These changes bring only the pain and the sorrow
I feel.
Why can’t life stay the way it’s always been?
Why does my heart have to break?
Standing here on the verge of tomorrow.
Wondering, What will it take
Keeping life here on today.

Tomorrow’s got a plan, but I don’t want to hear it
I’ve already made up my mind
To keep my world constant by staying inside
I won’t know it’s changed if I can’t see it.

Blocking the headlines and locking the door
Clinging tightly to those I hold dear
Forgetting everything that’s happened before
My one final plea
That time would only hear me

As my world crashes around me
And the changing goes on and on
I look up to wait for an answer
And in one moment, my fear is gone

Standing here on the verge of tomorrow
I finally know time must stay as it is
My Savior will guide me through the pain and the sorrow
I feel.
Life can’t stay the way I would like it to be
Just because I can’t handle the pain
I’m standing here on the verge of tomorrow
Letting Him lead me again
Even though there may be some rain.

The storms may be violent
Winds of change will blow
But with Him by my side
I’ll be sheltered, I know.

Standing here on the verge of tomorrow
I finally know time must stay as it is
My Savior will guide me through the pain and the sorrow
I feel.
Life can’t stay the way I would like it to be
Just because I can’t handle the pain
I’m standing here on the verge of tomorrow
Letting Him lead me again
Because, alone, I can’t handle the pain
Alone, I can’t handle the pain
