On a silent night in Bethelehem
A lowly Jewish girl is traveling
On a silent night, all she can hear
Are her cries of pain
From the Child she’s carrying

On a silent night, her betrothed leads her on
To an inn where she’ll find rest
But, when they arrive
They find what they’ve dreaded
There’s no room left

But, the innkeeper understands
And shows them a stable
They are welcome to have for the night
Joseph wants to sleep
Mary is weak from the past nine months
But they know, oh they know

The Child is coming, the Child is coming
And their joy far outweighs the weariness they feel
The Child is coming, the Child is coming
With an infant’s cry, He’ll announce that He’s here
The Child is coming

Many years ago, prophets told the news
Of a Child that would be born to a virgin
But, the people didn’t understand
Couldn’t understand

The Prince of Peace, The Bread of Life
The very Son of God would come
But, tonight His people sleep in peace
‘Cause they don’t know, they don’t know

The Child is coming, the Child is coming
On this silent night as the world is sleeping
The Child is coming, the Child is coming
The Son of God is born in a stable weeping

Young Mary holds Him close and sings a lullaby
And Joseph doesn’t know whether to jump for joy or cry
They can’t believe they are looking
In the face of God’s Son
Emmanuel-God with us.

The Child is come, the Child is come
He was laid in a manger many years ago tonight
The Child is come, He became the Man
Who died on a cross to bring us life
The Child is come.

On a silent night in Jerusalem
He was crucified for all that we’ve done
And the blood that flowed
Washed us white as the snow that’s falling to the ground

The Child is come.
